It's that time of year that we give thanks to the indigenous people of North America for graciously teaching us to grow corn so that we could return the favor by introducing them to small pox and distilled grain alcohol. I think that's worked out well for everyone! But that was a long time ago, and there is surprisingly plenty to be grateful for in this dysfunctional country...

- People still making art
- Excellent scenery
- Old-growth forests
- The Internet and its possibilities for connecting with people and information in new ways
- Apple
- Libraries
- Separation of church and state (in theory)
- Freedom of speech
- Diversity
- Birds of prey - returned from the brink of extinction
- Wind and water power
- Good restaurants/ chefs in most cities
- Oceans
- Cocktails
And in my personal life:
- my beautiful apartment and the fact that I can pay rent
- my large bath tub
- having a fun place of work
- decluttering
- good books
- friends
- aunt rosie, nearby
- opportunities to take classes
- local red wine
- excellent coffee available 3 blocks away
- part time lover
- in Seattle, it's always green - even in the middle of winter
- my laptop
- my iPhone
- not having to own a car
- naps
- yoga
- walking to work
